Work in Progress


After I get the proportions down I lay down the initial blocks of color and landmarks on canvas. At this point I'm not too worried about anything other than getting a roadmap of what goes where. So that's what this one is.

I followed the links from WetCanvas to here as the pictures you posted in the "Large Works" thread weren't showing. I, too, paint horses on big canvases (well, medium canvases compared to yours! Rarely over 48"). This painting is truly amazing already. Will it become as realistic as your other horse commissions displayed on your site? Or is this going to retain a looseness of color and line, as shown here?

Hi! And thanks for stopping by! All my work starts out this way...with the color and looseness. I'm not sure how much of it will remain in the end, however I want a little bit more of this energy in my finished pieces so we shall see where this one goes!
