Those of you who have been following my blog know that I am working on a large painting of a horse and rider clearing an oxer. I had always planned on doing a quick study of the image and this is my effort on it.
Usually I would have done this before beginning the larger work, however, I did this one about 2 weeks into the big piece, which ended up being great! I am already familiar with the figure so it went pretty easy, and it allowed me to work out some questions about the big piece. Plus it gave me a lot of insight into how I wanted to approach some of the rythmn of the painting.
This painting is approximately 10" x 16", Oil on paper.
